Mikel Arteta added a Chelsea flop to his defenders' wish list for the January transfer window.

Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta would be determined to sign a new defender during the January transfer market window to shield one of the weakest areas of the team in the last few games, which would have forced the club to act in consequence to be able to compete for all competitions in the campaign.

In this sense, the Spanish manager, who has already included in his target’s wish list young players such as Matthijs De Ligt from Bayern Munich or Nico Schlotterbeck from Borussia Dortmund, would have now included a new potential signing to be monitored in the next few weeks in the Gunners’ race to sign a defender.

The player in question is a former Chelsea defender, who left English football several years ago to join AC Milan, where he has become one of the key players in the squad under Stefeno Pioli’s system and has even achieved a Serie A title since his arrival to the Italian side in 2021 for €31 million.

Arteta confirmed that the Gunners could make the move

We talk about the 26-year-old defender Fiyako Tomori, who is under contract with AC Milan until 2027 and has become one of the potential options for Mikel Arteta to improve Arsenal’s defense after the manager revealed the possibility of signing a defender in his press conference ahead of the Gunner’s game against Liverpool for the third round of FA Cup.
