The whistler Simon Hooper let a play continue after a foul by Haaland and when Grealish was alone in front of the goal he regretted it.

Manchester City, led by Erling Haaland, erupted in fury at referee Simon Hooper after he stopped a counterattack in the final seconds of their thrilling 3-3 draw against Tottenham this Sunday in the Premier League. City, who had just conceded a late equalizer against Spurs with a header from Dejan Kulusevski, went on the attack in the final seconds in search of victory at home.

And just in those decisive moments the referee allowed a play to continue after a foul on Emerson Royal's Erling Haaland, which left Jack Grealish alone heading towards the goal, but the whistler regretted it and finally did mark the infringement on the Norwegian, thus cutting off an action that could have given the locals victory.

After the referee's decision, Haaland led the protests and had to be controlled by his teammates. Furthermore, after the match, in reaction to a clip of the incident on social media, the Norwegian posted referring to the refereeing with very descriptive phrases of what he felt about the decisions.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola also said he did not understand the decision, but added that he would not make a comment like Mikel Arteta's following the Arsenal manager's recent criticism of referees and VAR.

The final reactions

Next question, I won't make any comments like Mikel Arteta, Guardiola said in response to a question about Hooper's decision. It's hard when you look at the image, the referee decides to whistle after he has already told us to continue playing, he concluded.
