Brighton’s coach Roberto de Zerbi would have already identified the Caicedo’s successor

After having sealed the departure of Moises Caicedo to Chelsea setting a new record sale in the Premier League with a 133 million received for the Ecuadorian player, Brighton could be ready to sign the Caicedo’s replacement in the next few days, once their coach Roberto de Zerbi would have already identified the perfect player to fill the position.

In this sense, and according to the Italian journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Brighton would have put their eyes on the Cameroonian center back Carlos Baleba from Lille, who since 2022 was formed at the French club’s academy, where he arrived from the Cameroonian club Brasseries.

Since his arrival, Baleba has had a meteoric improvement in his game, having played only 13 games with the Lille’s second team before being consolidated at the first team, where he played 25 games giving two assists and completing more than 900 minutes with the club.

Brighton would be close to completing the deal for the player

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Baleba would have already agreed personal terms with Brighton, and the Seagulls would be ready to seal an agreement with Lille in the next few hours with a €30 million offer to be accepted by the French club and let the player go to England to seal his contract with the Seagulls. It would be considered a low price regarding Liverpool's research for a Caicedo replacement, since the Anfield team would have been rumored to be linked with around €50 million replacements for the player such as Ibrahim Sangare from PSV, valued at €47 million.
