The Argentine coach would have surprised everyone at the club with this desperate request

Mauricio Pochettino could be desperate to add some top quality players to his project and Chelsea, and could have made a desperate decision in the last few hours, in which he would have asked to the club’s owners to sign a World Champion to lead the team in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.

The Argentine coach, who would have insistently asked for the signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton to the Chelsea’s owner, hasn’t been able to count on the Ecuadorian player yet, and he would be desperate to count on an experienced player for the team’s midfield.

For that reason, according to the British journal Evening Standard, Pochettino would have asked Chelsea to sign Leandro Paredes, who is currently at PSG, where he would have lost his main role in the team. The 29-year-old player would then be looking for a new challenge outside the Parisian team, and signing for Chelsea under Pochettino's management could be a good option for him.

Pochettino could count on a player he knows really well

In this respect, the Argentine coach have appointed Paredes, whom he knows he knows really well from his period at PSG, as an alternative to Moises Caicedo, since Brighton would have rejected a 70 million, 76 million, 82 million and a 93 million offer from the Blues for the Ecuadorian international player, who would have requested his club to be sold to Chelsea but at the moment the Seagulls would be unwilling to accept any offer below €100 million for the player.
