The Dutchman spoke on the poor performances given by English playmaker

Manchester United’s playmaker Mason Mount went under the spotlight in the last few hours after his coach Erik Ten Hag analyzed his performances this season and gave the reason why he has not returned to his lineup yet after having recovered from the injury that kept him away from the team some weeks ago.

The Dutchman, who spoke to the media in the club’s press conference ahead of the game against Luton Town in Old Trafford on the twelfth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, left clear the causes motivating him to not having regularly count on the player in the last few games, and his words surprised the media and the fans.

The manager was asked by the role the English playmaker has in the team, considering he wears the club’s iconic number seven shirt, and he revealed that he has not stopped trusting on the player’s qualities, but his injury at the start of the season would have slowed down his development and integration in the team.

The player would still need to find his place in the team

In this sense, Ten Hag admitted that after several weeks on the sidelines, Mount should now find his place back at the team. “The expectations on Mount haven't changed at all, but he started the season, then he got injured, so that is the worst moment for a new player to get injured because it stops the integration process and that was a setback for us all, but I’m confident he’ll find his place back”, he explained.
