This was not a good season for Liverpool. Jürgen Klopp has a lot of work to do to get back to the top of the Premier League table. Their winter slump saw them miss out on a place in the UEFA Champions League.
This has not been gilded by the fans and critics, who are already looking for the culprits to find out what happened and why they fell so low. Now, they will have to take centre stage in the UEFA Europa League as top contenders to win the title.
Klopp has already made his first big signing and spared no expense. The arrival of Alexis Mac Allister will be the key to the Reds' ability to dominate their competitors. After all, they will have to make the most of the 60 million euros they spent on the Argentinian World Cup winner.
But there is one player who is starting to come under the spotlight for former Anfield players. He didn't have the performances he wanted, and now a former historic player and winner of that mythical final at the Atatürk State in Istanbul, Turkey in 2005 is hitting him hard for the team's situation.
In an interview with Redmen TV, Jamie Carragher spoke about Trent Alexander-Arnold's current situation. “I'm not sure, whoever you buy, whether you spend £100m on anyone, they can do much more than Trent. I think another season I'd be of the mind of saying 'Let's buy a right-back and put him in midfield', because this kid is too good to not be the centre of this team. It's his team”. Liverpool will not get rid of Alexander-Arnold without a big offer.
