The manager faces a great injury crisis in English football

England national team’s manager Gareth Southgate could be facing hard times as the coach of the Three Lions, as he has recently lost five key players for the next few games due to different injuries happening in the last few games in European football, where several top players had to exit from the pitch due to physical problems.

In this sense, in the last few hours the Tottenham’s manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed the severity of the injury suffered by the English playmaker James Maddison, who would be expected to be on the sideline at least until the start of 2024, which could affect the England national team, as the 26-year-old player usually provides great solutions for the Three Lions’ midfield.

In this respect, Southgate finally included two key players in his last call-up who have suffered recent injuries and could struggle to show their best level in the next few months. This would be the case of the Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, who has suffered several injuries in the last few games, and the Real Madrid playmaker Jude Bellingham, who recently had to rest due to a physical discomfort that forced him to miss the last game with his team in La Liga.

Two veterans could be added to the injured players’ list

The effect of the of the injuries among English players could be even worse for Gareth Southgate, as the the 31-year-old defender Lewis Dunk from Brighton has recently struggled to play despite being included in the English manager’s last list, and the Newcastle 31-year-old striker Callum Wilson, the current top English striker in Premier League with seven goals, currently faces a hamstring injury that forced him to miss the next few games with the Three Lions.
