England national team’s coach Gareth Southgate surprised the English fans in the last few hours making a revelation in the press conference ahead of the friendly game to be played in the next few days against Scotland as a part of the both team’s preparing for the Euro 2024.
In the press conference, Gareth Southgate was asked about the possible addition of Evan Ferguson to the English national team, since despite playing for Ireland the player would have been rumored to change his national team to play for England, following the path of great players like Jack Grealish or Declan Rice.
In this sense, Gareth Southgate surprised with an unexpected revelation, stating that they tried to convince the player of joining England, but Evan Ferguson would have rejected the option to play for the Three Lions and would be keen on keep playing for Ireland instead.
However, Ferguson would not be the only player targeted by the English national team, since Gareth Southgate confirmed they are also tracking Newcastle’s Elliot Anderson, who was born in England but has represented Scotland up to under-21 level. “Let’s see, that’s something that our organization will be picking up. He’s definitely a player we like", confessed Southgate.
