England national team’s coach Gareth Southgate answered the criticism created around the figure of Liverpool legend Jordan Henderson and his presence with the England’s squad in the last few days, since the current Al Ettifaq player would have been highly criticized by the fans and several ex former Premier League player like Gary Lineker due to the fact that he would not be playing an elite league to face England team’s compromises with the necessary guarantee.

The English coach would have left clear that he will keep on counting on Henderson for the squad, considering him an important player of a high level with many abilities to offer still to the team in the next few years, while he would have commented the reasons why he picked the Al Ettifaq’s player to be called up with England.

Southgate defended Jordan Henderson in his last press conference with England ahead of the friendly game to be played in the next few hours against Scotland, where it would be expected the presence of the Al Ettifaq player, as he also played against Ukraine in the last few days.

Southgate would be monitoring Henderson’s stats with Al Ettifaq

For that reason, Southgate did not hide that he would have set a strategy to monitor and evaluate the stats performed by Jordan Henderson, as he would do with any other player, denying the Liverpool legend had played a bad game against Ukraine. "Jordan Henderson's outputs on Saturday were the highest he's had for England. We have got good contacts at the club in Saudi Arabia so we have been monitoring his level. All of his data, he was hitting what he should have done...", explained Southgate.
