The Argentinian star has a new destination, and there are some hearts he has just shattered with the decision.

It's confirmed. Lionel Messi has joined MLS side Inter Miami. The Argentine star will wear the shirt of the team managed by former world star David Beckham, and his contract is the most expensive in the history of the North American league, surpassing that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

And you have to go further back in history to understand the cultural impact of having the reigning World Cup winner in Qatar 2022 to see if American fans can become more interested in football. Not even with the legendary Pele could the sport grow in a good way.

Now, however, FC Barcelona fans are heartbroken, as much of the information that had come out in recent days suggested that the board and Messi's father had reached a good agreement for him to join the Spanish side on a free transfer.

Messi had already rejected an offer from Saudi Arabia with a multimillion-dollar figure that overshadowed the others. But the former Paris Saint-Germain striker was unhappy with the conditions and the level of the league, so he turned it down immediately despite the stratospheric amount on offer.

In the meantime, the reason why the historic South American player chose the North Americans has different aspects. It was not only the emotions, as these were understandably already there at Barcelona, where he had spent more than 30 years shaping his entire life.

The reason Messi is going to MLS

Fabrizio Romano has broken the news that Lionel Messi is a new player for Inter Miami. His contract is worth $150 million and he would be signing a three-year deal. The stability of his lifestyle is the most important reason Beckham can give him and the entry into the US market.
