The reception Lionel Messi has received on his arrival in China has been crazy. The Argentine national team has a friendly match against Australia and the captain has been summoned to delight his Asian fans as well as to meet the commercial requirements of his sponsors.
When he arrived there were fans hovering around his hotel and shouting his name in a big way. Everyone wanted to get close to the world champion in Qatar 2022 and also to his teammates, who have understood that the focus of attention is on the South American star.
Something similar happened with Cristiano Ronaldo on his arrival in Madrid. They had to close the streets so that the Portuguese could be quiet inside his hotel in the best location in the Spanish capital, while celebrating the launch of his own brand of drinking water that will be on sale in Spanish territory.
For Messi, however, his arrival in Beijing has been an ordeal. It was not what everyone expected and, now, it will have major consequences if he is to arrive in time to sign his contract with Inter Miami in the MLS.
Social media has gone viral with the video in which Lionel Messi is being held by Beijing authorities for not having a mandatory visa to enter their territory. The confusion stems from the fact that it was believed that the Argentine did not need this paper, so he had to use several hours inside the airport until the situation was clarified, and he could join his teammates for the friendly match against Australia.
