Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta would be totally determined to win the Premier League title this season and he would be planning to strengthen his squad during the January transfer market window to achieve his goal at any cost, as he would have already identified a top target to sign and he would be desperate to secure the player’s arrival in the next few weeks.
In this sense, the last defeat suffered by the Gunners against West Ham in the Emirates Stadium on the nineteenth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season would have caused that the manager would be planning for signing a top defender with a name in mind to shield one of the weakest areas of the team.
According to the English football site BBC Sport, Arsenal’s manager would be absolutely keen in signing Bayern Munchen’s 24-year-old Dutch center back Matthijs De Light, as the Dutchman doesn't have enough minutes under Thomas Tuchel’s management and would be looking for opportunities outside the German club.
Following these sources, Arteta would be a great admirer of the player due to his versatility and quality on and off the ball, two main conditions required by the Spanish manager in a defender which he would have found on the Dutchman, able to play as a center-back or a right back in a similar role to that of Ben White in the North London team.
