Chelsea’s coach Mauricio Pochettino would be ready to take his squad to the next level of football with several signings in the January transfer window, as the Argentine manager would have already agreed with the club’s owner to look for some improvement in the next few weeks through the market.

However, the club would need first to raise funds to reinvest in the elite player required by the manager, and the institution would have already designed a plan to sell several players to achieve their goal, which also would help the West London club to avoid breaching the UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations.

In this sense, according to the Italian journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea would have started to work on three important departures from Pochettino’s squad. The first of them would be the one of Datro Fofana, who would be recalled from his loan at Union Berlin to join Sevilla after scoring two goals and giving one assist in 17 games with the German side.

Maatsen could leave the club to join Borussia Dortmund

Following these sources, Chelsea would also work on the exit of Ian Maatsen, who will be a free agent in 18 months and doesn’t want to renew his contract with the club, so the Londoners would want to promote his sale in January, with Borussia Dortmund in pole position to acquire his services; while Trevoh Chalobah could be also forced to exit with Bayern Munchen as his likely destination.
