Chelsea’s coach Mauricio Pochettino surprised the media and the fans in the last few hours by worrying them with an unexpected message in the club’s press conference ahead of the team’s next game against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup semifinals, which could give the Blues the option to fight for a title in the season.
The Argentine manager, who could be seen visibly happy for the option of lighting a trophy in his first season with the West London team, gave a worrying message about the fitness of Christopher Nkunku, who has been unavailable to play the last few games with the Blues.
In this sense, Pochettino revealed that the French 26-year-old striker won’t be available either to play against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup, not leaving a clear message on the type of injury suffered by the player. “We have to be cautious. Hope it's not a long period. He is not training, he is recovering. It's not a big issue”, revealed the coach.
In this respect, it would be worth mentioning that Nkunku has missed a great part of the season with Chelsea due to a long term knee injury suffered in the summer during the club’s preseason tour in USA, which then was followed by a fitness and a chip injury, having been out of 26 games of the Blues during this season.
