Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola would have received bad news in the last few hours as he would have already been told by the club’s medicals about four important absences in his squad to face Sheffield United in the next league game for the Citizen in the Etihad Stadium on twentieth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season.
The Catalan coach, who spoke to the media in the pregame press conference, was asked to give an injury update on Erling Haaland, and, visibly upset, confirmed that the Norwegian will not be part of the squad hosting the visit of Sheffield in the Etihad, adding three more names to the list of absences of the Mancunian team.
According to Guardiola himself, Jeremy Doku, Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones will not be part of the squad either, as the manager made a special mention to the last two players revealing that De Bruyne would be suffering from fatigue after being out for three months, and the English international would have been recently added to the sidelines in the squad.
In this sense, it would be worth mentioning that the Citizen a priori face a comfortable game against Sheffield United, where they would try to win again in their stadium to jump to the top positions of the Premier League after having failed to win their last three consecutive home matches.
