Manchester United’s coach Erik Ten Hag could have signed his definitive goodbye as the manager of the Red Devils after suffering a severe 2-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest in City Ground on the twentieth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season, which led the Dutchman to reach a dramatic record in the Mancunian club’s history.
According to the sporting data company Opta Sport, Ten Hag equalized the worst performance of David Moyes at Manchester United, with the Scottish manager’s side getting seventh after 20 days of competition with 34 points from 20 games managing the club, having scored 33 goals and conceded 24 in 2014.
Following these sources, Ten Hag’s United, who are currently seventh, has even worsened that record, since the Dutchman’s side has gotten only 31 points from 20 games, having scored 22 goals and conceded 27, which means that the team managed by the former Ajax coach is developing a worst ratio than Moyes’ by scoring even less and conceding more goals than the side than ended costing Moyes his job in 2014.
In this sense, it wouldn’t be unlikely that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who recently joined Manchester United as a minority stakeholder in the club, could think about sacking the manager during the Premier League’s winter break, when big news could be coming in the next few weeks around the future of the Dutchman at the club.
