Cristiano Ronaldo went under the spotlight after showing a controversial reaction to Haaland’s latest award through his personal social media, where he commented on the results of the ranking published by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) with the best players of the calendar year.
The list, headed by the Manchester City striker, had Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi completing the podium as second and third placed respectively, while Haaland’s teammate Rodri appeared at the fourth position just ahead Jude Bellingham, placed fifth and followed by Kevin De Bruyne (6th), Harry Kane (7th), Bernardo Silva (8th), Vinicius Jr (9th) and Lautaro Martinez (10th).
In this respect, the Manchester United former player Cristiano Ronaldo, who wasn’t among the top ten of this ranking despite having scored 53 goals in all competitions with Al Nassr and the Portuguese national team in this 2023, did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction with the raking using the irony by replying a post of the ranking though his personal Instagram account.
Under a publication of the Portuguese sport journal A Bola presenting the ranking, the five-time Ballon d'Or commented on several emojis that were "crying with laughter", thus not appreciating his absence, though which the Portuguese superstar showed his annoyance ironically for being snubbed one more time by the classifications of top players in football.
