Jose Mourinho, who lately was sacked from AS Rome, went under the spotlight in Manchester United in the last few hours, as many fans have claimed that the Portuguese manager could be a good option to replace Erik Ten Hag in the management of the team, a demand which has been followed by an incredible revelation linking the coach with a Liverpool legend who could have played for the Red Devils.
Future defined, Klopp confirms what he will do after leaving Liverpool
The player in question is the Dutch center back Virgil Van Dijk, who according to what was revealed by the former Premier League player Chris Kamara on the BBC’s Proper Football podcast, could have played for Manchester United during Jose Mourinho’s stage at the Mancunian institution.
As Kamara revealed, Mourinho would have urged the Red Devils to sign the Dutchman in 2018, when the player was still playing for Southampton, just few months before he finally joined Liverpool, where he quickly became a top idol for the fans and one of the best center-backs in English and world football.

In this sense, Kamara stated the surprising reason why Manchester United wouldn’t have followed the demands of Mourinho. “I can exclusively reveal that I told Jose to take him to Manchester United,” Kamara said. Jose said: ‘These lot (Glazer family) won’t give me the money for him.’ Yeah, and he went to Liverpool.”
