After several years tracking and trying to sign the Argentine superstar, the Catalan coach would have to accept that he wouldn’t manage again the eight times Ballon d’Or winner after his departure from Barcelona.
In this sense, the Catalan coach of Manchester City would have asked to the club to make an effort to sign Claudio Echeverri from River Plate, considered the top heir of the Argentine legend, and once the deal is almost done only lacking of official confirmation, the manager would have set important plans for the player’s development to become the next City’s superstar.
According to the Argentine site River Plate La Pagina Millonaria, Claudio Echeverri will join Manchester City on a six-year deal, with the agreement coming to €30 million. The initial payment by City would be €19 million, and the rest would be coming from the achievement of objectives by the player.
Following these sources, Pep Guardiola would be considering the possibility of sending the player on loan to Girona in December 2024, when the 18-year-old playmaker leaves River Plate for Europe, which would help to the player’s formation in European football, a previous step to the arrival to Manchester City to seal his elite status as a player.
