Liverpool missed a golden opportunity to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in the last few rounds of the Premier League. They were in fifth place and Newcastle have stolen that position, so they will have to drop down a rung in Europe's elite for a whole year, something the fans will not forgive them for.
Reaching the UEFA Europa League remains unsatisfactory for Reds fans, who are looking for the best for a team that not so long ago were the region's top champions, and under Jürgen Klopp need more stability in their footballing form. And that is why they need to add quality players to their squad.
One of the names that has attracted the most attention in England is Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine midfielder made a name for himself when he was able to win the World Cup with his country at the last World Cup in Qatar last year, leading one of his greatest career idols, Lionel Messi, to glory. He is now considered one of the best players in history.
The terms on which Liverpool would buy Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club would be one of the highest in the club's history, but it would be worth it to keep Klopp, who has struggled to get back to the top in England and be considered, once again, one of the best teams on the planet.
Media in England have reported that the signing of Alexis could be worth up to 60 million pounds. A lot of money, but not impossible for the Reds, who want to build an elite squad. They also don't want to make any more mistakes in their signings, as was the case with Cody Gakpo, who couldn't be the player to solve Luis Diaz's absence due to injury for a good part of the season.
