One of the most frequent demands made of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is that he has to renew his squad at all times. And without a ticket to the UEFA Champions League, this becomes more complicated for the manager who wants to continue making history with the Reds.
Finishing fourth in the Premier League and dropping out of the UEFA Europa League has to be the reality check the players, who feel ashamed of failing to reach the targets the board wanted, needed.
And the fans are not forgiving this situation. They believe there are players who are past their prime, or who have been failures from the moment they arrived. Some with high expectations who simply dropped in level with each season they were at Anfield.
That is why Jürgen Klopp has been clear that he is fed up with these players not reaching the limit of their capabilities and they are being released from their contracts for the next football year, where they must fight to be the best in the English league and return to the top of the big leagues in Europe.
Thiago Alcántara will not renew his contract with Liverpool. Despite still having a year to stay with the Reds, the board together with Klopp decided not to continue counting on the 32-year-old Spaniard, who is no longer called up to the Spanish national team due to his low level of play.
