Ben Brereton did not have a good 2023. The national forward left Blackburn Rovers to sign for Villarreal, a team where he has not achieved the consistency that he brought nor the scoring ability that he was used to in previous years. The club's idea is to loan him out to give him a new football rhythm.
In Relevo they stated that the Yellow Submarine wants to free up salary quota and also provide new opportunities. From his native England, several Premier League teams raised their hands to take over his services at least for the first half of 2024.
Daily Mail revealed that Bournemouth are interested in having La Roja's number 23 this year. The idea of the red and black is to access the loan of the Chilean to make up for the loss of Dominic Solanke. “They are looking for a center forward and the option is a loan from the Chilean international Ben Brereton Díaz from Villarreal,” they point out.
Micah Richards, Matías Fernández's former Fiorentina teammate, recommended Brereton leave and suggested an important club. This is Aston Villa, the current revelation of the Premier League 23/24 as they are second with 42 points, just three behind Liverpool (1st, 45 points).
And indeed the villain cast was interested in Ben, but he wasn't the only one. In addition to Aston Villa and Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Burnley also raised their hands for the Chilean-Englishman. The Colombian has only 543 minutes in 19 games with Villarreal this season, between LaLiga (13), Europa League (5) and Copa del Rey (1). He still hasn't scored goals or provided assists, and has earned two yellow cards. His average is 28.5 minutes per game. Given his lack of effectiveness, the Yellow Submarine is looking for a way out for him in 2024.
