Manchester United surprised the football fans in the last few hours by finally revealing the number that their new striker Rasmus Hojlund will wear with the club. The Danish player, who joined the club this summer for €85 million from Atalanta, had been out of the squad due to being recovering from a back injury, but he would make his debut this week against Arsenal on the fourth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season.

In this sense, the Danish striker had been expected to take the number 17, since he used to wear that number in Atalanta and it was free at Manchester United after the departure of Fred this summer to join Fenerbahce, a movement expected by the fans not only for raising funds for new signings, but also to allow their new Danish star to wear his favorite number.

However, Manchester United surprised the fans in the last few hours through an image posted on their official social media, where they revealed the numbers their player will wear this season. On it, it has been seen that Rasmus Hojlund will be finally given the Manchester United number 11 shirt, which belonged to the United icon Ryan Giggs and lately had been owned by Mason Greenwood, who finally left the club this summer by mutual agreement with the institution and was loaned to the Spanish club Getafe CF.

Alejandro Garnacho finally changed his number

In addition, in Manchester United’s post it has been seen the new numbers for Altay Bayindir (1), and Johny Evans (35). Meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon will not finally wear the number 3 as expected but the number 15, and Alejandro Garnacho, who had worn the number 49 during the club’s preseason will finally wear the Manchester United’s number 17 shirt, emuling the number worn by his idol Cristiano Ronaldo in Portugal at the start of his career in 2004, once the number 7 is currently owned by Mason Mount at Manchester United.
