Chelsea’s coach Mauricio Pochettino received bad news from his team, since it would have finally revealed the severity of Carney Chukwuemeka’s injury. The English player, who had to leave the game against West Ham in the London Stadium on the second day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season for Chelsea, was scanned in the last few hours, and now the club had the results.
In this sense, Chukwuemeka would be added to the long list of injury players that Chelsea currently has, including Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Armando Broja, Trevoh Chalobah and Marcus Bettinelli, alongside the long-term injured players Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana.
According to the English journalist Tom Roddy from The Times, Chukwuemeka would have suffered a left knee injury, and he would be expected to be out of the team for around six weeks, which would make the player to lose some important games in the next few weeks, like the derby against Fulham in the first days of October, and he would try to be ready to play against Arsenal at the end of that month.
In this respect, Mauricio Pochettino could be thinking about using Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia to replace the Chukwuemeka’s role in the team, once the Ecuadorian player already played his first minutes with the club and Lavia could make his debut in the next game for the Blues in Stamford Bridge against Luton Town.
