Fair Play is one of the aspects that increasingly seem to be forgotten in football. In the desire to gain an advantage in a competitive sport, players seeking to deceive the referee, kicks out of time and complaints about referees are usually the order of the day.

However, in recent weeks, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown that there are still gestures of fair play, even in matches with a lot of tension, whether because they are intercontinental competitions, in the race for places in European competitions or to avoid relegation. In this sense, throughout his career, one of the most recurring criticisms of Cristiano Ronaldo has been his tendency to dive into the area in search of a penalty scored in his favor, as in soccer, the tendency of players diving into the area upon feeling the slightest contact (and sometimes even without contact) is the most common.

In this respect, in the last duel between Al Nassr and Persepolis in the Asian Champions League, the Portuguese star fell inside the area in a dispute for the ball in what seemed like a new attempt to get a penalty. However, Ronaldo stood up almost immediately, and the referee, after CR7's confession, resumed with an indirect free kick in favor of the Iranian club.

He is not the first player confessing a refereeing mistake

Cristiano is not the first player to confess to the referee that there was no foul in an action. Notably Ryan Giggs with Manchester United and Werder Bremen's Aaron Hunt to name a few. However, the Portuguese's gesture is not something that is regularly seen on the field and is an example not only for current players, but also for young people who want to dedicate themselves to soccer in the future.
