Liverpool’s striker Darwin Nunez was crucial for the Uruguayan national team in their 0-2 victory against Argentina, where Messi could not do anything to avoid the final defeat of the Argentine team, who was dominated by the great performance delivered by the Uruguayan players, with Nunez as their leader.
The Liverpool’s number nine set his landmark in the game at the 87th minute of the clash against the Argentine team, when he sealed the victory for the Uruguayan side with a right footed shot from the center of the box to the center of the goal after being assisted by the River Plate playmaker Nicolas de la Cruz.
The goal, which allowed the player to seal a sensational performance with the Uruguayan side, allowed Nunez to complete four goals scored in the 2026 World Cup qualifying games, and achieve an historic victory against Argentina, who was not defeated by the Uruguayan team in World Cup qualifying games since 1987.
In this sense, the 24-year-old player is now focused on the next game for the Uruguayan national team, to be played against Bolivia in the next few days with the need of a win to remain in the race for the top position of the table with the Argentine team, who still leads the classification with 12 points ahead of Uruguay with 10.
