Brighton’s 18-year-old striker Evan Ferguson was the man of the match of the last Seagulls’ game against Newcastle in the Amex Stadium on the fourth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season and his name very quickly appeared on the media labeled as the “new Harry Kane”, once the player scored a hat trick and equalized and set several personal records.
The Irish striker, who had been identified as the Kane’s heir by the ex former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker some months ago, equalized a record set by important players in the league, becoming the fourth player to score a Premier League hat-trick aged 18 or younger, after Chris Bart-Williams, Robbie Fowler, and Michael Owen (3 times) according to the sporting data company Opta Sport.
In addition, Ferguson, with 8 goals, 2 assists in his career at Brighton, became the second non-English player to hit 10 Premier League goal involvements while aged 18 or younger, after Cesc Fàbregas (5 goals, 10 assists), and he also became an iconic reason of pride for the Seagulls, becoming the first Brighton player to score a hat trick at the Amex Stadium.
According to the British media, Brighton would be really happy to have such a football gem in the club, and they would have gotten prepared to receive offers for the player in the next transfer windows, where he could be acceptable to have a higher price than the one set for Moises Caicedo, who was sold to Chelsea for €133 million in this summer transfer market window.
