Liverpool could be slammed by the January transfer market window according to the Catalan media, as FC Barcelona and their coach the Catalan Xavi Hernandez would be willing to sign a top player from the Reds to strengthen their team for the second part of the season.
In this sense, according to the Catalan journals Mundo Deportivo and Sport, FC Barcelona would be considering signing a Liverpool player to cover the long term absence of their midfielder Gavi, who suffered an ACL injury during the international break and would leave a free place to sign a new player.
Following these sources, the Catalan club would have put their eyes on a Liverpool player to cover the Gavi’s place in the team, and they would be considering the signing of the Spanish 32-year-old midfielder Thiago Alcantara for the position, as Xavi Hernandez and the team’s sporting direction would consider him the right player to fit the profile at a very decent price.
According to this information, Liverpool would be open to the idea, considering the position of the player is now considerably well covered in the squad with the presence of Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Stefan Bajcetic and Harvey Elliott as potential players to replace Szoboszlai or McAllister instead of Thiago.
