The Saudi Arabian league has proven to have unprecedented economic power, because although in the past both the MLS and the Chinese league tried to break the market with the signing of big stars, they were usually players who no longer had the level to continue in European football, even though they were once big stars.
However, unlike them, the Saudi Pro League has managed to convince several players who could still be at the highest level to emigrate to their league and join one of the clubs, who seem to have unlimited resources, as they have been able to sign players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
The new big whim of the Saudi Pro League is to take Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who according to journalist Fabrizio Romano has already accepted the salary proposal made by Al-Ettifaq to join them from next season, which would have been so high that it would have made Henderson change his mind, who at first had no intention of leaving Liverpool.
According to various sources, Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq, which is managed by Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, have reportedly offered Henderson £700k tax-free to join the club. Moreover, that money would come in full to the 33-year-old England midfielder, as the club has also pledged to pay all his living expenses for him and his family.
