Elliott was the hero for the Reds in Selhurst Park

Liverpool lived another crazy and exciting game in their visit to Crystal Palace in Selhurst Park, where the Reds achieved a great 1-2 victory against the Eagles on the sixteenth day of the 2023/2024 Premier League season to take provisionally the leadership of the league ahead of Arsenal, who play this week a tough game in Birmingham against Aston Villa.

The Reds struggled to impose their quality in the game from the first minutes of the clash against the Eagles, who had the best first goal chance in the game on the boots of Ayew, a crucial player for the locals, who initiated a play not finished correctly by Lerma; and a mixed-up between Quansah and Endo ended in a possible penalty against Liverpool that was ruled out by the referee in the first half.

Jürgen Klopp wanted to redirect the game for his team by doing several changes in the lineup, and he gave entry to Joe Gomez in the second half, but the locals opened the scoring at the 57th through a penalty converted by Mateta, which forced Klopp to make new offensive changes in his team.

Elliott scored the winning goal at the 90th

The German manager replaced Quansah and Gravenberch for Konate and Gakpo, and 17 minutes later gave entry to Elliott and Curtis Jones to send Nunez and Szoboszlai to the bench. Mohamed Salah equalized the game for the Reds at the 74th, and one minute later Ayew was sent off due to a double yellow card. These two actions radically changed the game for the visitors, who tested the rival keeper more and more dangerously until Elliott scored the winning goal for the Reds at the 90th, sealing their victory and putting them provisionally as the new leaders of the Premier League
