Manchester City’s coach Pep Guardiola could have received bad news in the last few hours as his team could face a Premier League player in the Champions League as a part of the clash his team will have against RB Leipzig in the next few hours in the RB Stadium on the second day of the 2023/2024 UEFA Champions League group stage.
The player in question would be the Chelsea flop Timo Werner, who joined the Blues in 2020 from Stuttgart for €53 million, playing 89 games with the Londoners, scoring 23 goals and giving 21 assists, conquering the Champions League and the Club’s World Cup before returning to Germany in 2022 to join RB Leipzig, where he would have returned to his best registers in his career.
In this sense, the player would have been injured in the last few weeks, but according to the site Sport Witness, he would be about to make a comeback to face Manchester City in the next few hours, which would be a great menace for the team led by Pep Guardiola, who will not face the RB Leipzig Spanish star Dani Olmo, currently in the sidelines at the German club.
With these inconveniences, Manchester City would try to develop a winning streak in Europe, where they began defeating 3-1 Red Star Belgrade on the first day of the competition in the Etihad Stadium with a great game by the Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, who would try to continue with his great start of the season in Germany against a tough rival.
