Manchester United’s coach Erik Ten Hag would have already taken a decision on the French 28-year-old striker Anthony Martial, one of the most discussed players in his squad, who has also been subject of controversy during the season for his lack of defensive commitment in the last few games of the Red Devils.
In this sense, it would be worth mentioning that the French striker was screamed by Erik Ten Hag during the game where the Red Devils got 1-0 defeated by Newcastle due to his passivity to pressure the rival and recovering the ball possession, which would have enraged the Dutchman and would have be crucial in his relationship with the striker.
The manager, who in the after game press conference of that day avoided to point directly at the French striker, would have advised the club to set the player as transferable ahead of the next January transfer window, which would have caused Manchester United to take an important decision on the player’s future.
In this respect, according to the English journalist David Ornstein from The Athletic, Manchester United would have decided not to activate the option to extend Anthony Martial’s contract extension when it expires at the end of this season, when the player could sign for any other club as a free agent.
