The ex former Premier League striker slammed the Liverpool legend

Liverpool legend Jordan Henderson has awakened the criticism among the football fans and the British media with his presence in the English national team, becoming the first Saudi Pro League player in history to play for the Three Lions in 151 years (1872-2023), which clearly would not have been unnoticed.

In this sense, some of the fans and the media in England would consider that the Saudi Pro League would not be competitive enough to get ready to face the elite level required in the English national team and the competitions to play with the Three Lions in Europe and the world and Jordan Henderson’s presence with the national team would have become a controversial topic.

In this respect, the ex former Premier League striker Gary Lineker has been one of the latest voices to have this opinion, and the retired striker criticized the situation mercilessly on the The Rest Is Football podcast, pointing to the poor performance given by Henderson against Ukraine.

According Lineker, Henderson shouldn’t play international football

Lineker compared Henderson's situation to his own career, and insisted that the former Reds’ player should have retired instead of signing for Al Ettifaq. "I am a huge admirer of Jordan Henderson. I did a similar thing, I moved abroad at the very end of my career to earn a few bob and get a different experience. I think then, that is semi-retirement, I don't think you should play international football”, explained Lineker
