Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta surprised the media and the fans in the last few hours in the club’s press conference ahead of their next game against Sevilla in Sanchez Pizjuan stadium on the third game of the 2023/2024 Champions League’s group stage, where the Gunners need a win to jump to the top position of the group.

The Spanish coach, who was asked by the English press about the importance of Kai Havertz in the European competition, revealed that the German player’s experience in the tournament, which he conquered with Chelsea in 2019 alongside the Arsenal midfielder Jorginho, was one of the main reasons to sign him this summer from the Blues for €75 million.

In this sense, it would be worth remembering that Kai Havertz did not only win the tournament with Chelsea, but he was also crucial to achieve it, as he scored the decisive goal that gave the Blues the title in the game against Manchester City, and was his third one in the competition, where he developed a great role for his team.

He’d try to net for the first time against Sevilla FC

However, things would be really different for Kai Havertz this season, where he has completed 13 games with Arsenal, scoring one only goal and giving one only assist for his team. Two of those games were played in the Champions League, where he remains scoreless at the moment and would aim to net for the first time against Sevilla FC.
