Manchester City was dumped out from the Carabao Cup in the third round of the competition after being defeated 1-0 by Newcastle in St. James’ Park in a game suffered for the Citizen, who completed an excellent first half where they were not able to score, being finally dominated by Newcastle, who knew how to profit their chances in a tight game and got the definitive goal to achieve the victory against the Sky Blues.
The Citizen were dominant from the start of the game, having the first chance at the 17th on the boots of Julian Alvarez, who was the center forward for the visitors while Haaland surprisingly remained on the bench the whole game. The Argentine striker combined really well with Oscar Bobb and Grealish and they had the best chances for the Citizen, while Murphy had the clearest chance to score for the locals at the 40th.
However, Manchester City lost their dominance in the second half, when Newcastle developed their game, surprising the Citizen at the 53rd minute, when Joelinton entered into their box in a great play and gave an assist to the second post, where Isak finished the play scoring the local's goal without opposition.
From that moment, Newcastle led the game and Manchester City tried desperately to score the equalizer, but they were well stopped by the defensive system of the locals, who resisted until the end to achieve an important victory to dump out Manchester City from the Carabao Cup.
