Cristiano Ronaldo is facing a $1billion class action lawsuit in the U.S. after promoting his non-fungible token collaboration with cryptocurrency exchange Binance on social media.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nasser footballer, faces a consequence of the cryptocurrency crisis in the US. The Portuguese star faces a lawsuit worth more than $1 billion in the US courts by those affected by the Binance platform, who believe that his advertisements led them to invest in 'crypto' on said platform and suffer heavy losses.

The cheapest price was $77, but a year later the cost dropped to $1 after problems with the Justice Department, which said the company had to pay $4.3 billion in fines and report suspicious activity. This comes after its CEO, Changpeng Zhao, resigned after pleading guilty to money laundering violations.

Ronaldo announced his deal with Binance in November 2022 and promised contest prizes, such as meet him, with the goal of helping to successfully solicit or attempt to solicit investors in Binance's cryptocurrency-related securities from Florida and across the country.

Among his other allegations are that the Binance fraud could only reach such heights through the offer and sale of unregistered securities, with the help and voluntary assistance of some of the richest, most powerful and recognized organizations and celebrities in everyone.

Why are Cristiano Ronaldo sued in the United States?

According to The Athletic, the plaintiffs allege throughout 130 pages to which they had access that the publications and advertisements on the website and social networks of the current Al Nassr player encouraged them to make investments that generated losses. Likewise, they argue that CR7 engaged in unfair and deceptive practices by making them believe that crypto assets were safe, without disclosing how much they paid him. For this reason, they ask him for the amount of damages by ensuring that he attracted new users in his campaign.
