Mauricio Pochettino is preparing the new Chelsea season with the main goal of taking the club back to the top of the Premier League. After not having qualified for any European competition, the Blues will have a target to win any English competition, but they will need a versatile and quality squad for it.
At the moment, Pochettino has said to be happy with the squad, where the young players will be highly considered, as the club's idea is to design a winning project that can lead the English and the European football for the next few years. In this sense, several South American young players such as Enzo Fernandez, Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel are called to lead the team in the short term.
The last addition to this collection of young players could be the English international Levi Colwill, a 20-year-old defender who had an excellent loan spell with Brighton last season. The English wonderkid is highly expected at Chelsea, and he is ready to return to the Blues from the England Under-21 national team. He will arrive as recent champions of the
, where the Colwill performances haven’t been unnoticed by the big European teams.
Levi Colwill will be back at Chelsea in the next few days and the Blues already have plans for his young star. In this sense, sources from the British media have confirmed that Chelsea view the defender as an integral part of the team and are not prepared to even entertain the idea of losing Colwill.
At the moment, Manchester City and Liverpool have made enquiries about the possibility of signing the player, but Pochettino has a clear plan for the English defender. Colwill is under contract with Chelsea until 2025, with a 12-month extension to kick in after a certain number of senior appearances. Given that, Chelsea could be ready to offer him a new deal, with Pochettino having already sent a strong message to City and Liverpool about the player’s future: Colwill will not be sold this summer.
