Chelsea is preparing for the next Premier League season while their coach Mauricio Pochettino is totally immersed in the summer transfer market window. The Argentine coach has set his selling list very early, and he has already sold several important players, having raised big funds which now would be invested in the players he requires to improve the team and face the challenges of the Blues for next season.
In this sense, Chelsea’s main goal would be returning to the top of the Premier League, which would require important players and a big investment in the market, which the club is now ready to make. Pochettino would have already identified some important names to sign, but in the last few hours he could already have received bad news about one of the potential deals to complete.
According to the English journal The Athletic, Chelsea would have presented a €80 million offer for Moises Caicedo, from Brighton, which could have been rejected by the Seagulls. The 21-year-old midfielder is one of the key players in Brighton's project, and after having sold Alexis McCallister to Liverpool, the Seagulls don’t have any need to earn money, so they could ask for a very high price to let Caicedo go.
After being strongly slammed, Pochettino could be pushing Chelsea to increase the initial offer and reach an agreement for the Caicedo, who had been promised by Brighton to let him go during this summer transfer window, with Chelsea as his preferred option to be his next destination.
