Brighton begins talks with De Zerbi, its coach, in the face of growing interest from Real Madrid in signing him.

Brighton & Hove Albion are set to begin talks over a new contract with their manager, Roberto De Zerbi, in response to interest from clubs such as Real Madrid, who are looking for a coach for the future. De Zerbi, since his arrival in September 2022, has transformed Brighton, earning an impressive sixth place finish in the Premier League and the club's first European qualification.

This season, Brighton continue to compete at the top of the table and are on course to advance in the Europa League. De Zerbi's success has attracted the attention of other clubs. Information from different web portals has revealed that both Real Madrid and Napoli, who could be looking for new coaches in 2024, are considering the Italian coach for future appointments.

Brighton, although not worried about outside interest, are looking to strengthen their position. It is understood that the club, very pleased with De Zerbi, wish to offer him a new, longer-term contract that secures his future beyond the expiry of his current contract in 2026. Currently, his contract contains a release clause of around 10 million pounds, and one of the motivations for negotiating a new agreement is to increase that figure.

De Zerbi is very happy in England and is pleased with the support and backing he has received from the Brighton hierarchy on the transfer front. Despite eventually selling Moises Caicedo for a British record, the club made six permanent signings over the summer, plus the loan of Ansu Fati, whose career has been sadly affected by injuries.

The future of Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti

Real Madrid's possible search for a new coach next year is linked to Carlo Ancelotti's contract expiring at the end of the season and the possibility of him leaving the Bernabeu to take over as coach of the Brazilian national team. Ancelotti, a four-time Champions League winner, already has a preliminary agreement with Brazil, although Madrid are also ready to offer him a new contract as players have expressed their desire for him to stay.
