The Portuguese star’s influence was crucial in the deal’s failure

Bayern Munchen’s striker Harry Kane will make an unexpected return to Old Trafford with a different shirt to Tottenham’s in the next few hours, and it has been inevitable for the fans speaking on the player’s frustrated arrival to Manchester United in the last summer transfer market window.

After having set as one of the top targets of the Mancunian team by Erik Ten Hag at early June 2022, the Red Devils would have tried to sign the English star, which would have been unexpectedly avoided by Cristiano Ronaldo’s money according to the English journal Daily Mail in an impressive negotiation taking place along the last summer.

Following these sources, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would have left clear that Kane wouldn’t be sold to a Premier League with Manchester United fearing ‘that Levy might string them along throughout the summer until the last days of the transfer window and then pull the plug, leaving them high and dry’.

United’s representatives would have refused to pay Kane’s wages

Finally, Harry Kane’s arrival to Bayern was completed in late August for €100 million, a prohibitive price for Manchester United, which added to  Kane’s huge wages at the German club would have been seen as a stumbling block by the Red Devils’ representatives, who would have refused to pay them, referring to them as huge. “And then there was the issue of Kane’s wages. It was Cristiano Ronaldo money,” said one source close to the deal. It’s understood that Kane’s salary in Munich is £500,000, including signing-on fee and bonuses.
