Tottenham’s English superstar James Maddison surprised the Liverpool fans in the last few hours revealing that one of the icons in the Reds in the past has been his idol and inspiration in his career as an attacking midfielder while he was highlighting for the English journal The Independent the kind of players he would like to model his game on.
Maddison mentioned in an interview with The Independent to the ex Liverpool player Phillipe Coutinho as one of the main models in his career, revealing that he was a big fan of the Brazilian player when Coutinho was at Liverpool coached by Jürgen Klopp, a team that James Maddison would have loved to watch.
In that respect, Maddison commented that the Brazilian 31-year-old player, recently signed and unveiled by Al Duhail in a one-year loan transfer, would be one of his idols, alongside other former Premier League players such as David Silva or Christian Eriksen, being a great admirer of the Danish midfielder’s performances for Tottenham Hotspurs some years ago.
In this sense, James Maddison would be currently considered a top player for the Spurs as Christian Eriksen was at his time at Tottenham, since he would have become one of the most important players in the team since his arrival this summer from Leicester City for €46 million, having scored 2 goals and giving two assists in only four games played for Tottenham in this 2023/2024 Premier League season.
