Jordan Henderson would be ready to start the Saudi Pro League season with Al Ettifaq, where he arrived in the last few weeks after Liverpool and the Saudi team reached an agreement for £12 million to seal the singing of the player, who would have been offered a two-year deal worth £36.2 million a year.
According to the British media, the player’s signing for Al Ettifaq would have been a personal request by Steven Gerrard, who asked the Saudi institution to sign Henderson as the club’s superstar as soon as he was unveiled as a new Al Ettifaq coach, and shaked the Liverpool’s universe, who was divided over the option to say goodbye to a player considered a club legend like Jordan Henderson.
In this sense, Henderson himself, once arrived and unveiled as a new Al Ettifaq player, gave his opinion about the transfer in an interview for Sky Sports, where he confessed how the process of his arrival was and stated the reasons why he decided to left Liverpool to join a new challenge in the Saudi Pro League, where he would have as a goal to reach the top of the table with Al Ettifaq.
Commenting on the main goals he has set with his new team, Henderson confessed that Steven Gerrard was a pivotal reason to take part in Al Ettifaq’s project. "Stevie was a big reason obviously why I came to work with him and play under him. We had some good training sessions, so hopefully we can keep moving things in the right direction and definitely work together to make the team better and more successful”, said Henderson.
