Liverpool’s midfielder Alexis Mac Allister completed a really good game with Argentina in their 1-0 win over Paraguay on the third day of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, leaving a stunning play which remembered to Messi that despite he could not convert into a goal, it left him as the best man on the pitch for the Argentine national team.
Mac Allister, who lately has been surrounded by a great controversy creating a debate over his best position at Liverpool, fueled the polemical comments claiming he is a number 10 with an incredible performance precisely at that position, where he performed with a natural brilliance to become a superstar for Argentina against Paraguay.
The Liverpool midfielder showed his ability in tight spaces near the box, with a play which was labeled by the media as a “Messi-esque” sequence, where he dribbled several players to create his own goal chance. It happened following an attempt of connecting a volley after a benign assist from the corner, when Mac Allister took the ball and got the fans excited with an incredible action.
The Argentine midfielder took the ball and stepped on the ball to dribble and enter into the box with five players drawn to make a challenge as the 24-year-old skipped past them, creating a fantasy play which went viral on the social media with the Liverpool fans celebrating the quality of their player.
