West Ham could surprise in the next January transfer window with the signing of a new center back after being snubbed in the summer transfer market window by Harry Maguire from Manchester United, as a part of the David Moyes’ plans for his team to improve the squad and have it ready for all the competitions faced by the Hammers this season.

According to the Italian site Calciomercato, West Ham would be keen on signing the Argentine defender Lucas Martinez Quarta from Fiorentina for the January market window, which comes from completing a sensational start of the season with the Italian team and would have attracted the interest of the Hammers.

The Argentine defender,  experienced enough after having played 104 games with his former team River Plate in Argentina and 92 games with Fiorentina, with many games in international competitions in Europe and South America, has completed eight games this season with Fiorentina, having scored two goals and given one assist with the Italian team.

The player would be considerable cheaper than Maguire

In addition, the price would be a plus for West Ham, since the 27-year-old player, younger than Maguire, would be considerably cheaper than the English defender, as Lucas Martinez Quarta would be valued at €25 million by Fiorentina, an affordable amount for West Ham, who would be tracking the player to start negotiations for him soon to take him to West London in January.
